Abstract—Although information and communication technologies have had an effective role in increasing organization’s performance and effectiveness, numerous ethical problems are also occurred. There are always some doubts in comprehensive application of this technology by organizations. In spite of this fact, the requirement of identifying the effective factors on ethics for removing the problems are necessary because of undoubted role and significance of these technologies. The research performed before indicates this issue that few studies have been conducted on the effect of organizational citizenship behavior on technological ethics.

The main objective of this article is considering the relationship between identity and ethics and their relations with information technology.

Keywords-information technology; identity;curriculum

                                                                                                                                                                 I.           Introduction

Generally speaking, information as a dominant energy of the new century is replaced with the industry relies on the perishable energies with an amazing speed, and caused humans to a new experience of the development course of communities in which are the aspects and facets of life are influenced by this process, the experience that alternatively changed human life by inventing the steam engine in the late 18th century. The steam engine invented by James Watt caused a fundamental revolution to be created in how humans percept and deduce the natural phenomena and their applications in life, and caused a new concept to be emerged named “technology”. It can be concisely said that technology can be defined as “actualizing the knowledge” [1].

The rapid developments resulted from applying the technology in human life made tremendous changes in industrial, economical, political and civic structures of the societies. As most of  the social revolutions in the 19th and 20th century  is rooted in the social changes resulted from developing various aspects of technology in human life [2].

A new era was opened in using the computer in various areas of industry through inventing this device as one of the products of technology from the mid 20th century, in which information processing is one of them in this field. Increasing the needs for information and the requirement of various information processing in different fields in one side and the rapid increase of electronic devices and developing the communication contexts and increasing the information on the other side are gradually caused a new social system to be created that its main origin is information and information processing. The increasing development of this system and its influence in different contexts of the society and also its effectiveness in all the social relations caused the new era to be named as “information age”[3].

The appearance of this period caused another form of technology named “information technology” to be formed observing the devices to be actualized that are based on information knowledge[4].

Information and communication revolution is rapidly changing the world’s economy, culture and politics and are practically transforming the world to “ global village”. The occurrences happened all over the world are communicated throughout the world in the least period of time through the facilities of this technology [5].

The powerful capability of a phenomenon named computer in developing the information technology and its obvious notation as “ internet” and a new wave of effective and influential evolutions does not mean that mental and performance and human’s creative thinking lose its property despite digital culture and electronic training invasion. Though internet has many privileges, the educational, cultural and ethical damages and its dark aspects should also been considered. Many behavioral abnormalities, disintegrating of the families, breaking the values down, losing the roles and identities, social and cultural wandering and confusions and many other damages  are the result of the conditions that families left their children unsupervised and untrained and the devourer energy of the internet threatened and destroyed their souls and spirits [6].

Therefore, considering the issue of ethics and identity is so significant in information technology.

                                                                                                                         II.         Information technology and identity

Identity is a term that is gradually losing its real station in world’s literature. Literally speaking, it is wandered in new and old, traditional, modern to post-modern issues; and conceptually speaking, among the suffixes (national, cultural and religious identity). Historically and geographically speaking, it is affected by international invasions (breaking the foundation and collapsing the civilizations and the growing trend of ideas, technologies, internets and communicational highways [7].

Identity includes the sum of social and individual characteristics and features and the related feelings and thoughts obtained by the ability to have mutual interaction with oneself and findings imaginations and it is presented in answering the question of “ who am I”. The identity of a person can be individual and collective [8].

The special use of new technology, especially the internet, through the youth is more focused on the genetic roles, sexual desires and romantic relationship issues [9].

Timely and untimely dealing of modern human with the information and communication phenomenon has undoubtedly had fundamental effects and evolutions in their mind and psyche. The effects that was never imagined to our ancestors . With all the tensions, anxieties, frustrations and depressions burdened, modern human is suddenly faced with a world that he imagined it is hidden before others. Internet is changed to parts of our life[10].

The results of the research conducted by Maryam Rafat Jah and Ali Shakouri (2007) entitled as the effects of internet ins some aspects of social identities (including religious, racial, familial and individual identity), it has been shown that the racial identity of those who use internet is more weaker than those who do not use this device.

                                                                                                                           III.        Information technology and ethics

The users are constantly gotten familiar to new stimulants and various kinds of ethical and social behaviors by many facilities and alternatives the new media provided for people in the information age. This atmosphere creates an unidentified identity and continuous change which is mostly effective on a generation that is faced with much stimulants in comparison with ancient generation. The people in society re-organize the supposed line between general and specialized atmosphere through new media and information technology, and this is a facility that the society is actively using it [11].

The issue of ethics in organizational and individual levels has been focused the attention of many researchers during the last four decades [12].

Behaviors and ethical decision-making has been the favored issue of many researchers in the fields of accounting, marketing and management [13].

A fundamental distance can be seen amongst these issues and the shortage of ethical orders in adapting the growing of information technology with ethics, which the rapid and explosive development of information technology is its main cause [14]. Various methods are recommended for maintain the technological ethics; most importantly, developing the executive approaches [15].

Generally speaking, the ethics of information technology includes identities and contexts of ethical judgment, the criteria and practical guidelines in using the information technology in the field of decision-making [16].

The users of information technology have been faced with numerous problems in information age [17]. Masoun [18] mentioned the privacy, precision and validity, ownership and the achievement capability are the main fields of ethics in the fields of using the computer programs. Bolonia [19] believes that the users of information technology (including the manufacturers, distributers, owners and the managers) should be ethically responsible for the products and services that have property, sales, management and usage. These users are forced to consider the ethical issues as privacy, illegal use, safety, data security, data integration, competence, appropriateness, dedication and chivalry [20].

In spite of this fact, ethics is faced with the shortage or lack of identified competence authority and legal and administrative mechanisms in the field of technology. Therefore, the ethical issues are mainly limited to a sum of ethical recommendations in this field.

                                                                                                                                                IV.        Results and Discussion

A group of World- Wide Watch initiated a new system in England as a part of the current efforts for immunizing children in World Wide Web for observing the electronic health and ethics in this place. This system is designed in such a way that it gives parents the opportunity to analyze the contents of World Wide Web through locking the sites and chat rooms they supposed that there are people there that misuse their children. This refinement can be used for prohibiting access to violent sites that show drugs and advertise alcohols.

The information technology and the world wide web tool can be used in propagating rich cultural and literature reserves , developing the world’s sciences, education and training, E-commerce, E-banking, information, giving services to publics in E-government, advertisement, religious issues and trainings and developing the international communications and world peace.
